Brewster Brockmann
Brewster Brockman was born in the United States, landing squarely in the arms of a multicultural artistic family. His father is a noted Mexican architect and his mother is an American painter. Both met as students at the Rhode Island School of Design. Art runs through the veins of his family with his brother, sister and cousins all practicing artists and photographers. Equally comfortable in the fields of painting drawing and sculpture, Brewster has certain abstract expressionist influences of contemporary and modern masters such as Jean Dubuffet, Willem De Kooning and Jean-Michel Basquiat in work. However he has clearly made his own unique mark as a multi-disciplined artist, and has developed a base of collectors and admirers of his work, worldwide through his exhibitions in Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, San Miguel de Allende and New York.
In his latest series of paintings he tries and succeeds beautifully in bringing attention to the importance and magnitude of the natural world and how every individual of any given species, large or small, has it's own distinct personality. He also continues to work utilizing graphite on paper in producing fantasy, stream of consciousness landscapes that address modern concerns and ideal worlds.
Brewster Brockman lives and works in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
